So you want to have a blue wedding color theme. Here are ways that I, as a wedding planner, would incorporate blue into your wedding that are FRESH and FUN and not repetitive and dated.
1. LOOK AT THE COLOR WHEEL - Pair blue with the opposite color on the wheel- ORANGE! This will add in depth and visual interest to your design. The contrasting colors are bright and vibrant while also toning eachother down in a way that is completely balanced. Use these colors with pattern, texture, unique florals, napkins, fruits, candles, and more!
2. COBALT BLUE IS HAVING A MOMENT - Cobalt blue is hot and fresh! It is bright, bold, looks fantastic on so many skintones, and is a surefire way to add your "something blue" in a fierce way. Cobalt blue will be eyecatching in your print materials like invitations, wedding day signage, menus, as well as fashion! Now TBH- it's hard to find blue flowers but when you find the right one, like these delphiniums??? Hard to resist. Colorblocking your florals with the vessel is really chic and intentional in the design. It adds another layer for your eye to feast on.
3. BYE BYE NAVY AND ROSE GOLD - Hello Parisian chic! If you still want that blue and pink vibe, let's do it in a new way! A way with a little bit more je ne sais quoi. Soft pastel blues and pinks, uses of different shades to create depth and movement as opposed to stark contrasts. Implementing tons of tecture and pattern in your linens and upgrading chairs will instantly elevate your design. When it comes to fashion, have your wedding party select their dresses on their own in that color palette, but add in some spice with patterns, ruffles, or puffed sleeves.
4. LIFE'S A BEACH - Let's say you want that blue beachy wedding. We've been seeing the Hampton's vibe for a couple years and I still think that is so stunning and luxurious. With luscious blue hydrangeas at gorgeous estates with a tented wedding and a live band and an oyster bar and...ok I'll stop. Hear me out: You want coastal, you want beach, you want luxe, you want seashells and parasols. Oh baby, I got you. It's giving Nancy Meyers. Father of the Bride. Because I Said So. Something's Gotta Give.
5. FOR MY MOODY GUYS AND GALS - Art Deco//Gatsby//Old Hollywood
We can't forget about my moody lovers (I am one of them as well.) Opulent colors and textures can be mixed into this style. With a deep indigo color, pair it with a glitzy champagne color to add contrast Harsh lines in paper goods and elegant mood lighting is where it's at. Really bring these deep colors to life with textures like velvet, suede, and taffeta.
Blue is always going to be a contender for a wedding color palette but there are SOOO many directions you can go in! It depends majorly on your venue or city you are planning on celebrating your nuptials in. So be sure to take that into account!
So which type of blue wedding are YOU leaning towards??
